Fishers of Men

While I was posting that last entry, here are what Audrey and LJ are doing....LJ's fishing and Audrey is the fish. =) Perhaps, one day, they will truly become fishers of men!

okinawan tradition

It's been awhile since we have blogged. Sorry. I guess not much is going on here, or perhaps, the newness of my camera is beginning to wear off =). We did have some interesting visitors the other day, and here is a little insight on life in Japan: We got a call from the housing agent letting us know that the landord was going to come by to wander around the yard and pray over the property. She was quick to say, "this is okay, it's Okinawan tradition". Within a few minutes 3 people arrived. We stayed inside while they performed their rituals, but it was all a little odd and concerning. They started behind the house, laid out a mat, burned candles, offered up food (fruit) sprinkled something all over our yard and prayed. They would then pick their stuff up, move about 5 feet and begin the process again. Meanwhile, Kevin, the kids and I are praying that the Lord and His mighty hand would work in a mircalous way, protecting us and allowing these lost people to feel HIS presence at our house and be changed. Please pray with us, that the Lord would keep us from the Evil one and that the people here would see the error of their ways and come to know the Lord.

Zoo

Seriously, the zoo is in our neighborhood and we pass by it all the time. The kids have been asking if we can go again and so we did. On Kevin's day off, we headed out and had some fun. It's a ghetto zoo, their habitat is pretty lame and not up to stateside standards, but the cool thing is that you can actually see the animals. There is no guessing at where they could be and no need for biconulars.

Updates

Josiah will be one in a month. Crazy!! He has his official first word,"ball" and says it so clearly that most everyone knows what he's talking about. Partly because he says it the entire time while chasing one around. I'm now two months away from my due date. WOOHOO!! Please pray for an easy, painfree (remember we pray to a God of miracles) delivery and for a healthy, happy little boy. My feet are beginning to swell and I have to be careful how I'm going to stretch in fear of getting a charlie horse. The joys of pregnancy!! Looking forward to getting him out and being "normal" once again...whatever that means!

Girls' & Guys' Bible studies

Last night we started the youth guys' study. Kevin is going to take them through the book of 1 Timothy. They had a good turn out and a great time in the Word. The girls' began Esther. Mrs. Andrea is teaching this one and she did a wonderful job giving all the background info and diving into chapter 1, although she left us with the king being furious and burning in his anger...what a cliff hanger!! Good thing we can all read ahead to find out what happens to Queen Vashti. With Kevin teaching that leaves me to watch the kids. So cool how God led Andrea to our small group and gave her a desire to teach. His timing is perfect!

Sand Box

We now have our own sand box. I thought it would be lots of fun for the kids and I was right. However, sand outside has now equaled sand inside...and I'm wondering..."what was I thinking?". Perhaps, once the sand is dispersed I won't refill the pool. The things you have to let go of when you are a mom, I mean, can a little sand in the house really hurt?!

Everything is A Weapon

LJ can make everything, and I mean everything, into a gun or sword. Here he is shooting us with a piece of bread. It's hard to tell in the picture, but it was shaped perfectly. Boys!

I found these on my camera. I guess they took some time to have a photo shoot together. I'm sure Audrey asked to have her picture taken.

Just Because

Thought this one was a great picture of Josiah =) Kay, these glasses showed up in the box you sent us. I don't know what they are to, but let me know if you need them back.

Parking Lot fun

I took the kids upstairs to the street where we park our cars and let them race on their little push cars. They loved it!! So, upon request Kevin took them up there again and this time he actually took some pictures of the action. Thanks, Kay and Les, for his new camera. He really likes it!

Sleeping

No matter how much trouble a child is during the day, it's always a joy to see them sleeping so soundly. This is what we found this morning when we tried to wake them up for church. No need to mention that they really didn't want to get moving!

Stick Bug

I'm telling you, we've got some of the coolest critters here in Okinawa!! Doesn't this make you want to come and visit us? This dude was found on the coke machine outside of the church.
